The Opportunity
The Structural Designer is a mid-level design professional who works independently to contribute to the efforts of the Merchandising Display Design team and existing customer and business development opportunities. They stayanized,municate effectively, demonstrate excellent time management, and consistently deliver high-quality output. She/he has a robust understanding of business objectives, technical processes, and manufacturing technologies and applies this knowledge in his or her design process. Smurfit Westrock:

Proficiency in Artios CAD and professional proficiency of Microsoft Office products – Power Point, Word, Excel required. Adobe knowledge advantageous.
Advanced proficiency in operation of equipment including CAD Tables and 3D ers Advanced understanding of carton manufacturing processes and limitations and can effectively execute CAD layouts for estimating and production teams
Familiarity with beverage package filling lines, supply chains, automation and/or fit-for-use testing is a plus Creative design generation: active participation in design ideation to support customer or platform innovation projects Robust execution: maintains highest levels of customer satisfaction in managing design related responsibilities for key accounts and projects through timely and independent execution of deliverables including prototypes, white samples and graphic mock-ups Effective and clearmunication, including clear expectation-setting with Commercial team and customers, customer-facing articulation of design intent, feedback and coaching of fellow designers, and collaborative optimization with Operations. Degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Design Engineering or specialized Engineering Degree based in mechanical engineering disciplines from an accredited institution is preferred and/or minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10-20% for internal meetings and externally to customer sites.

What you need to succeed:

At least 3 years of relevant experience; 4-8 years in the packaging industry strongly preferred
Related experience in a creative, technical, or production-focused setting is a plus
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; familiarity with InDesign & Photoshop
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
A basic ability to visualize and understand how flat parts fold and assemble in 3D
A mechanically inclined mindset is a plus
Eagerness to learn new design software and industry equipment
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship in building physical samples and documentation
Excellentanizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
A proactive, reliable work ethic and a strong desire to learn and grow professionally Goodmunication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative way
