Job Description:

The Draftsman is an entry-level engineering position that prepares technical documentation and programs Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machinery. The position requires proficiency in solid modeling, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programing.

Competencies/Qualifications:

• Must be familiar with the basic aspects of protective packaging design.
• Shall have proficiency in Solid Modeling and CAD applications (Solid Works and AutoCAD).
• Able to learn basic CAM programming and tooling selection.
• Communicates effectively with colleagues to identify packaging design requirements.
• Able to learn manufacturing processes and equipment used for foam, wood and corrugated production.
• Able to learn basic drafting standards.

Responsibilities:

• Draft packaging product manufacturing specs per designer instructions in accordance with department drafting standards.
• Ensures correct material callouts and quantities are detailed on material lists.
• Program and operates CNC machinery.
• Maintains and continually improves proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
• Assist department supervisors to interpret manufacturing specifications.
• Designs production tooling (dies, molds, jigs, etc…).

Education/Licensing and/or

Certifications:

• AS in Mechanical Design or Mechanical Engineering Technologies.

Salary and Rank:

• Hourly position-negotiable based on qualifications and commensurate with experience
