As executive director of interior design, you will providestrategic direction supporting the unique visual identity of SCADwhile also maintaining the university brand and ensuringconsistency across all university locations. You will lead projectcreative direction and conceptualization with an emphasis onhighlighting SCAD artists and ensuring the visual appearance ofSCAD is breathtaking and remarkable throughout each SCAD building,event, exhibition, retail outlet, photo shoot, and initiativeworldwide. The executive director of interior design is the leaderof SCAD Design Group, SCAD’s internal design studio consisting oflicensed architects and certified interior designers at multipleSCAD locations.

You will lead interior design and architecturaldesign across all SCAD locations and be a key contributor to theaesthetic of SCAD, following the creative direction of SCADPresident and Founder, Paula Wallace. Inspired ideation will be afocus as you lead project teams through the processes of conceptdevelopment, functional programming, space planning, specificationof furniture and finishes, design and QC of custom fabrications,curation of artwork, environmental signage, and acquisition ofspecialties and other unique objects, collections, and curiosities.

You will be responsible for imparting wonder and joy in everyspace, serving SCAD students and faculty needs as well as creatingthe stunning backdrop for memorable university experiences.

You willwork closely and collaboratively with SCAD events, exhibitions, andspecial projects teams as the creative leader within SCAD DesignGroup. In collaboration with internal and external architects anddesigners you will create inspiring creative concepts for buildingprojects, events, exhibitions, and executive initiatives whileleading teams of tradespeople and contractors duringimplementation, construction, and project delivery.

Among otherduties, you will also adhere to all applicable codes, laws, OSHAregulations, and safe practices; ensure follow-through on allDesign Group projects and initiatives; and serve as a liaisonbetween various departments and project contractors, vendors,artists, and craftspeople.

The successful candidate thrives as anindividual and team contributor and demonstrates exceptionalorganization, time, and project-management skills. The candidateshould be self-directed, able to handle multiple complex projectsand deadlines with ease, and comfortable in high-energyenvironments. Spectacular interpersonal communication skills, bothwritten and verbal, are essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or aclosely related discipline and a minimum of 10 years of relatedprofessional experience OR combination of education/training andexperience Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit,or other similar design applications Adept at communicating concepts through visual presentation andverbal communication Excellent leadership, team management, and project managementskills Acceptance as SCAD authorized driver

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field with five years of relatedexperience and/or training or the equivalent combination ofeducation and experience – Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit, or other designapplications Team and project management experience in fast-paced,high-energy environment Ability to handle multiple, multicomponent projects anddeadlines -Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
