SDG has been featured in multiple design trade publications and continues to be on Best of Houzz from 2013 to present. Our firm is a close-knit team of artistically talented and diverse professionals who bring to each project the full power of our collective experience and insight. We encourage a collaborative team environment and approach to our design. Our Asheville office is growing, and we are looking for a dynamic designer to build the future of SDG.
The successful candidate will:
Have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in concentrated design at a design firm – hospitality and luxury residential is preferred, but we will also consider candidates with stellar design skills. Have supporting portfolio of work with creative design concepts and references Have advanced skills in AutoCAD Pull appropriate concept packages of color and materials for interior architecture and FF&E Produce production documents Execute detail oriented, accurate elevations Be able to readily capture the intended ‘look and feel” that reflects branding and positioning, and with architecture, color, finish materials, and FF&E, articulate “the why” to the team and client using sound, logical reasoning and design sense Be a strong communicator and have great listening and people skills Have a passion for creative design solutions and problem solving and a dedication to a positive attitude Possess well-developed visualization skills and be able to convey intent of ideas easily and quickly, both verbally and visually Have an understanding and interest in studying design trends Work quickly, effectively and within project timelines Enjoy working in a team setting, and be excited to share knowledge and ideas with others, and to help others to improve their own skills and expertise Be willing to occasionally travel Bring a strong work ethic, sense of professionalism, and desire to constantly learn to the SDG team Be self-motivated To thrive here in this position, you must be passionate about our work and projects, be curious, and love the process of discovery. Assist in creating detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and 3ds Max. Participate in client meetings to understand their needs and preferences while providing design recommendations. Conduct research on materials, furnishings, and finishes to support design proposals. Help manage project timelines and ensure deliverables are met according to schedule. Support the remodeling process by assisting with site visits, measurements, and project documentation. Stay updated on industry trends, color theory, lighting sales, and renovation techniques to enhance design knowledge. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field is preferred. Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), SketchUp, and 3ds Max. Basic understanding of interior design principles including color theory and lighting. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and team members. A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn from experienced designers.
