Pay:
Sawyer | Berson Architecture & Landscape Architecture, LLP, an AD100, New York-based design firm, seeks a highly motivated and skilled Decorator Assistant for high-end residential projects. Ideal candidates must have New York-based experience and be adept in residential design and project administration through all phases. Must have knowledge and a keen interest in how traditionally designed projects work from concept, documentation, and construction. Experience working in a classical architecture firm is a plus.
Duties:
Work closely with decorators, designers, architects, and contractors
Procurement of interior and exterior furnishings, fixtures, fabric, wallcoverings, and equipment
Researching and interviewing new suppliers and manufacturers
Heavy phone calls to follow up on orders, shipping, and delivery dates
Coordinate off-site storage of decorative items
Ship domestically and internationally; prepare paperwork for customs and track shipments
Preparing purchase orders and entry into Studio Designer software
Match invoices with purchase orders and delivery tickets
Assist with maintaining vendor and supplier files, as needed
Purchase general and specialized materials as directed by decorators and designers
Maintain project files for multiple projects
Consult with suppliers and review quotations with the design team
Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts, or recommend contract awards as directed
Assist with preparation for client meetings and vendor meetings, etc.
Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure
Must be able to relate and coordinate with the finance department’s project funding needs every week
Must know how to create reports in MS Excel and understand the Schedule of Values and budgets
Provide support for any NY office renovations
Education & Skills:
BA or BS degree Must work in the office full-time, five days per week
Must have the knowledge and purchasing background
Experience working with Studio Designer software
Must have at least 3 years of experience in interior assistance and general office duties.
Must have computer literacy, including solid experience in MS Word and MS Excel.
Ability to work under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills are a must, as well as the ability to work independently and have solid multitasking abilities.
Knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment.
Interior Design knowledge is a plus.
