As the Spanish Interpreter/Translator, you will provide Spanish translation and interpreting services for Hispanic families of students, clients, and potential students. You will work in collaboration with the Talladega campus programs, Talladega Regional Center’s Early Intervention program, Outreach Services, and senior citizens served by AIDB’s Senior Services Department.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a high school diploma or GED. A minimum of five (5) years of documented work experience related to Spanish interpreting/translating. Must have basic computer knowledge and be willing to obtain up-to-date technology/information regarding computer equipment and/or software programs. Fluent in both Spanish and English, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both languages Must have knowledge of and adherence to federal and state laws and the Code of Ethics related to interpreting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A
minimum of five (5) years of documented work experience interpreting in an educational setting.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Provide Spanish interpreting services for parents of enrolled and/or potential students. Interpret educational meetings (i.e., IEP meetings, Behavior Intervention meetings, parent/student discipline meetings, staff meetings, etc.) as assigned. Interpret during tours of AIDB campuses, as requested. Translate documents for Hispanic parents (Admissions process, IEPs, progress reports, letters, medical reports/letters, etc.) Provide emergency interpreting needs related to our Hispanic students/parents after regular work hours. Translate documents and forms utilized by AIDB departments. Provide minimal Spanish language vocabulary training to staff, as requested. Provide interpreting services on an as-needed basis through the Senior Services and Outreach Services departments. Maintain confidentiality. Update the translation of student handbooks with changes each school year. Interpret for Hispanic parents during programs, banquets, pageants, etc. when the child is a participant, receiving an award, graduating, etc. Assist with managing and obtaining contract interpreters when needed. Team with contract interpreters when called upon. Must possess good interpersonal skills and work cooperatively with AIDB staff, students, and the community. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as have the availability to be on call. A sign language proficiency level of

according to the AIDB evaluation system must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment. Reports to the Executive Director of Health and Clinical Services.
