Category Schools – Interpreter Job Type Contract A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a high school setting. This position is based in Jasper, Alabama, and extends through the current school year.

Responsibilities include:

Providing clear and accurate sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events Facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and staff Adapting interpretation style to suit various educational settings and individual student needs Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethical standards Collaborating with educators and support staff to enhance student learning experiences Preferred qualifications and experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in educational environments, particularly at the high school level Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication strategies Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in sign language interpreting highly desirable
