Creole Medical Interpreter Elmura Linguistics Inc. Fort Myers, FL 33902 Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Haitian Interpreter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating communication between Haitian-speaking clients and English-speaking professionals in various settings, including healthcare, social services, and legal environments. This role requires a high level of proficiency in both languages, as well as an understanding of cultural nuances and the ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Duties Provide accurate interpretation services for Haitian-speaking clients during meetings, appointments, and consultations. Translate documents and written materials from English to Haitian and vice versa, ensuring clarity and cultural relevance. Review documentation to ensure all information is accurately conveyed and understood by all parties involved. Collaborate with professionals in child protective services and social work to facilitate effective communication. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Communicate effectively with clients to assess their needs and provide appropriate support. Stay informed about relevant terminology in both languages, particularly in legal, medical, and social work contexts. Assist in the development of resources that enhance communication for multilingual clients. Qualifications Bilingual proficiency in Haitian and English; additional languages are a plus (multilingual candidates encouraged to apply). Experience or familiarity with child protective services or social work is preferred. Strong documentation review skills with attention to detail. Ability to interpret complex information accurately while maintaining the original meaning. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Certification in interpretation or translation is preferred but not required. Familiarity with American Sign Language is a plus.
