Haitian Creole Interpreter Bridge Language Services Altamonte Springs, FL 32714 Job Summary Bridge Language Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Haitian Creole/English Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between Haitian Creole-speaking individuals and English-speaking professionals in a variety of settings, including healthcare facilities and child protective services. The ideal candidate will be fluent in both Haitian Creole and English, with a strong understanding of medical terminology, cultural nuance, and social work practices. This role requires strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards. Responsibilities Deliver accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation services in real-time for medical, social services, and community-based encounters. Translate written documents, forms, and educational materials between Haitian Creole and English, ensuring clarity and contextual integrity. Support healthcare providers and social workers by relaying patient/client concerns, needs, and questions effectively and compassionately. Review translated materials and interpreted content for accuracy and compliance with relevant privacy and professional standards. Maintain the confidentiality of all communications, strictly following HIPAA regulations and professional ethical codes. Engage in regular training and professional development to remain current on industry practices, terminology, and cultural awareness. Requirements Fluency in both Haitian Creole and English (spoken and written). Previous experience as an interpreter or translator, particularly in medical or child welfare settings, is highly preferred. Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare environments. Familiarity with social services procedures, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-informed communication. Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality laws with a demonstrated ability to uphold them. Professional demeanor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Certification or formal interpreter training is a plus, though not required.
