Category Schools – Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Exciting opportunity for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support early childhood students in a collaborative educational environment. This position is focused on providing essential communication services for two elementary students during the summer session and into the 2025/2026 school year.

Qualifications:

Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (NIC or equivalent). Experience working with children, particularly in early childhood settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Familiarity with various sign language systems and interpreting techniques. Availability to work onsite, Tuesday through Friday.

Location:

Bunkie, LA, in the Alexandria area.

Responsibilities:

Provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, facilitating their access to educational content. Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication and support for student needs. Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of communication goals. Maintain professional standards and stay updated on best practices in sign language interpreting and education. Support students during transitions and in cultivating social interactions with peers.
