Springfield, MA Hours:
Full-Time or Part-Time; flexibleschedule to meet the needs of the program/agency
Summary:
Responsiblitlies:
This role is responsible for providing communicationaccess to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind individuals within theagency. This will include ASL and/or Tactile/Pro-Tactile interpretationto agency staff and residents, interpreting spoken and written contentinto ASL content for those who need the accommodation, and interpretingASL content into spoken English content for those who need translation.
Additionally, this role will provide guidance for staff and agencyindividuals regarding communication access. Assisting with thecoordination of interpreting and Communication Access RealtimeTranslation (CART) services for agency trainings, events, and meetingswill be valuable. Assist in transforming agency policies and pertinentinformation to be more accessible for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and/orDeafBlind staff.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Training:
? Minimum 1year of successful interpreter experience ? Successfully completedMassachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH)Interpreter Screening ? National Association for the Deaf (NAD) LevelIV; National Interpreter Certification (NIC), preferred ? Actively onthe Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) ? Experience with Deafindividuals with atypical language, preferred ? Knowledge and awarenessof Deaf culture, cultural diversity, and knowledge of Deaf, Hard ofHearing, and DeafBlind service delivery system ? Proficiency in writtenEnglish and competent in computer applications; some remote workpossible ? Ability to establish a positive rapport with individuals fromdifferent ethnic, cultural, and/or economic backgrounds ? Valid driver?slicense and reliable transportation ?
