Category Schools – Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract A unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a 6th-grade student in a middle school setting located in Mapleton, ME. This in-person position is set to commence at the start of the 2024-2025 school year and focuses on providing one-on-one interpretation services, facilitating effective communication and enriching the student’s educational experience.

Qualifications:

Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g.,

NIC, SC:

L). Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong ability to interpret in educational settings. Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and the student’s support team.

Location:

Mapleton, ME Responsibilities:

Provide continuous sign language interpretation for the student throughout the school day. Collaborate with educational staff to ensure effective communication and support the student’s learning. Attend meetings and participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) discussions as required. Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the varied needs of the student and the classroom environment. Maintain professional standards and stay updated on best practices in interpretation.
