JOB SUMMARY
The interpreter, under general supervision, has the responsibility to interpret written and/or spoken material from one language to another while maintaining the original meaning, format, and tone. They play a crucial role in facilitating communication and understanding between different language speakers, sometimes in very specialized and sensitive cases. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to bridge communication gaps and foster multilingual understanding. This position will help improve quality, promote safe clinical care, and enhance the patient and family’s healthcare experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
+ Minimum of two year’s experience in healthcare + Must be able to pass a Language Proficiency Assessment + Must be 18 years or older
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITES
+ Ability to deliver high quality translated content via written or oral communication + Ability to interpret fluently + Reads, translates, and rewrites documents as needed + Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient understanding, patient concerns, explain treatment options, and updates as needed + Specialized knowledge in healthcare and knowledge of medical terminology + Specialized knowledge in cultural understanding + Ability to detect nonverbal cues or cultural customs specific to that group of people + Ability to document timely and appropriate in the electronic medical record + Ability to work weekends, holidays, and take call + Must be organized and able to cope with stress + Ability to maintain unbiased and neutral + Coordinates effective transitions plans post discharge by calling patient post discharge
