A full-time opportunity is available in Troy, NY, for a skilled professional certified in New York to serve both as a Sign Language Interpreter and a Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students at the middle school level. This is a contract position for the upcoming school year, ideal for individuals passionate about fostering communication and learning in educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one sign language interpreting services to students, facilitating effective communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff. Deliver instruction and support tailored to the needs of middle school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs). Promote an inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic and social growth of DHH students.

Qualifications and Experience:

Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter in the state of New York is required. Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, particularly in a middle school setting. Strong understanding of DHH educational practices and ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly. Ability to work effectively in both interpreting and teaching roles.
