A full-time opportunity is available for a certified Sign Language Interpreter and Teacher for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a middle school setting. This position involves providing 1:1 interpreting services as well as fulfilling teaching responsibilities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. The role is contract-based for the school year, located in Clifton Park, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver one-on-one sign language interpreting services to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in classroom and school activities Teach academic and language development tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing middle school students Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to promote inclusive learning environments Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies as needed Maintain current certification and comply with New York state standards for Deaf education and sign language interpreting

Qualifications:

Valid New York State certification as a Sign Language Interpreter and as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing Experience working in educational settings, preferably at the middle school level Strong communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of Deaf culture Ability to manage both interpreting and teaching responsibilities effectively Commitment to supporting the academic growth and social development of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
