Educational Interpreter Share link Go back Apply for this job Category Special Education Location(s) Walhalla Middle School Description Educational Interpreter for Hearing Handicapped Program Responsibilities Accurately interpreting all spoken messages & signed messages. Conveying students’ questions or replies to questions to teacher and class in language level used by student. Honoring role of interpreter during interpreting process. Adhering to Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) Codes of Professional Conduct. Maintaining confidentiality of information regarding students. Interpreters function as an integral part of the education team & therefore may have access to certain information that may be discussed within an education team meeting but must be kept confidential within that setting. Perform additional tasks as appropriate & assigned by Lead Teacher.
Reports to:
Building Administrator and Director of Special Services. Experience/Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; familiar with National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Registry of Interpreters (RID) Code of Professional Conduct; fluency in English and Sign Language; trained in American Sign Language and/or cued speech; possess the ability to relate well with students, teachers, administration, faculty, staff & parents; such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of Special Services may find appropriate and acceptable. Passing score on the EIPA Assessment test. Salary Range Salary range $255.68 – $354.48 per day depending on education and experience. 180 days per year. 8 Hours per Day
