Job Summary Provides sign language interpretation in all school environments for students who communicate through sign language What you will do
Provide professional and accurate sign language interpretation for designated students, both expressively and receptively, in the student’s communication mode in all school settings, including school sponsored extra-curricular activities.
Facilitate communication between students who use American Sign Language, their hearing peers, classroom teachers and other school personnel.
Provide other needed support services to designated students, attend meetings and in-services and participate as part of a student’s educational team.
Report progress and/or concerns to the student’s Case Manager.
Collect and record data of students’ performances and/or behavior and complete other duties as assigned.
Follow strict codes of confidentiality.
Effectively advocate for students’ communication needs across the school environment and participate in discussions with school personnel and related in-service trainings.
Exhibit flexibility to school and schedule changes and demonstrate team support and cooperation.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (Documented American Sign Language Interpreting experience) Required
Skills and Abilities
Professional American Sign Language interpreting skills and effective interpersonal skills
Licenses and Certifications
State of Tennessee Educational Interpreter Licensure Required

Starting At:
$28.96 Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
