Lynn University seeks an experienced performing artsTechnical Director for the Wold Performing Arts Center and theAmarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall. Reporting to the Director ofPerforming Arts Operations, this position will help support theartistic vision of the institution by collaborating with differentuniversity departments ensuring all stakeholders are supported andguided to foster a highly collaborative and creativeenvironment.

Essential duties andresponsibilities Serve as the primary technical contact for all events takingplace at the Wold Performing Arts Center and the Amarnick-GoldsteinConcert Hall. Co-manage budgets for lighting, sound, scenery, costumes,props, shop supplies, and other theatrical supplies. Facilitate regular production meetings. Train and supervise students in standard theatrical productionand safety practices. Assist in assigning technical staff positions for DramaDepartment students and supervise technical requirements forConservatory of Music concerts. Collaborate with Drama Department on technical requirements forthe selection of shows for upcoming seasons. Assist in the hiring of design and/or key production roles forLynn Drama Department theatre productions and other Universityevents. Assist the design and production process assuring artisticvision and contractual obligations are met. Design at least one major element for every Lynn DramaDepartment production as well as other University events. Ability to provide a full set of design plates and technicaldrawings as appropriate for each production. Assist in the build, load-in and load-out of all productions,concerts and events as needed. Supervise staff, including selecting or recommending shopassignments, evaluating those assignments as well as training,mentoring, and supervising student workers in coordination withDrama Department Chair. Assist in creating work schedules as needed. Request and schedule all over-hire production crew for WoldPerforming Arts Center and Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hallevents. Direct, supervise, and assist with running of productions. Coordinate with Director and Artistic staff regarding bookingof events, practicalities of productions and scheduling ofvenues. Conduct production meetings with staff, student workers, andoutside producers to determine task assignments. Oversee maintenance of shop tools/equipment. Monitor theater inventory of supplies, equipment, materials,and performs theater maintenance. Work with Director of Performing Arts Operations to develop andimplement operational procedures and ensures compliance bystaff. Ensure personnel perform tasks in compliance with departmentalsafety standards. Assist and support performing arts faculty in departmentaloperations. Other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills, andabilities Working knowledge of one of the following disciplines: lightingdesign, lighting consoles and related software. Experience with proper audio systems procedures, practices, andrelated software. An understanding of scenic design, set-building, and theatricalproduction management procedures and protocols. Knowledge of theater rigging and standard practices. Proficiency with computers and software including VectorworksSpotlight, as well as Microsoft Office. Be able to exercise good judgment and communicate effectivelyboth orally and written. Have strong organizational skills and ability to work in amultiple task environment. Supervise staff and student workers and maintain positiveinterpersonal relations with faculty, staff, students, andclients. Ability to climb a ladder, operate aerial work platforms, andbe comfortable working at height. Ability to lift over 50lbs and stand for long periods of time,occasionally work overhead. Have knowledge and real experience in theatrical rigging andrigging practices.

Minimum qualifications Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Technical Theatre with aconcentration in lighting design, live sound, or scenic design, setconstruction, or technical theater operations. Masters of Fine Arts preferred. Five years of continued related work experience in theatre anddemonstrated professional experience in performing arts productionand management. #J-18808-Ljbffr
