ThePositionThe technical director will be responsible for supervisingall areas of design and technical production except costumes. Thisincludes design and implementation of construction, sound, andlighting. The TD will also teach two courses in technical designand collaborate with undergraduate students on 3-4 productions eachyear. Support of theater events outside of theatre production.
KeyResponsibilities:
Design and fabrication of scenic design, lighting design,procurement/fabrication of all properties, and sound for 3-4 mainstage productions, and occasional student productions. Supervision and maintenance of scene shop, theaters (main stageand studio) and related facilities including lighting and soundsystems, and storage areas. Teaching, supervising and training students in technical designand production in class and workshop settings. Supervising theater spaces and providing technical support forcollege and community use beyond theatre productions, includingconcert shell installation. Responsible for teaching 2 courses a year in theatrical design.
Typical courses include stagecraft, lighting design, scenicdesign. Variable hours, including evenings and weekends. Reports to the Assistant Dean, School ofCommunication/Culture/Arts.
Education, Experience, Skills, andAbilities:
MFA in Technical Direction, Theatrical Design, or relatedfield. 3-5 years experience of undergraduate teaching, desired. Demonstrated technical production experience with knowledge ofcarpentry, rigging, and electrics. In lieu of a master’s, professional experience will also beconsidered. #J-18808-Ljbffr
