The Stevens Dramatic Society at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey is seeking a Director, Production Manager and Stage Manager for its Fall 2025 production of And Then T Were None. The Stevens Dramatic Society is an entirely student-run society with a full cast and Production Board of full-time college students. We are in search of a Director, Production Manager, Technical Advisor, and Stage Manager who can work with tight student schedules, budget constraints, and are able to work well with students who pursue theatre mainly as a hobby.
Director – Paid $3500 for 9 Weeks
The position of Director entails: running auditions and callbacks, casting the production in collaboration with the student Producer, working with the Stage Manager to schedule rehearsals, attending weekly Production Board meetings, collaborating with the Producer and Production Board to set the overall concept and look of the production, conducting rehearsals, educating and training an assistant Director, and making best effort to be present at performances of the production. It is desired that our directores in with a strong vision to make our production of And Then T Were None stand out.
Stage Manager – Paid $3000 for 9 Weeks
The position of Stage Manager entails: being present at auditions and callbacks, coordinating and scheduling rehearsals with the Director, being present at all rehearsals, calling cues during performances, recording blocking, disseminating information to and from the cast, educating and training a student Assistant Stage Manager, producing a report of all rehearsals and performances, conducting a paper tech and more. Rehearsal reports must be clean, concise and understandable and t must be a strong desire to encourage learning of the student stage manager.
Production Manager/Technical Advisor – Paid $2500 for 9 Weeks
The position entails working with the Producer to schedule, attend, and lead all Production Board meetings and crew calls,anize Load In and Load Out of the theater, advise Production Board members and provide support w needed, help to maintain one cohesive vision throughout the production, and more. For this production specifically, extensive knowledge of lighting design is preferred, as well as willingness to mentor student designers on the lighting team.
Technical Advisor – Paid $2500 for 9 Weeks
This position entails leading and guiding the student set and lighting teams through the full design process, from concept to execution. The Technical Advisor should have strong experience in both scenic and lighting design and must be fullypetent in managing the entire design process independently. In this role, the Technical Advisor works as the head of the student designers, providing both creative and technical input and holding a voice in the overall design decisions.
In addition, this position collaborates closely with the Production Manager to ensure the production runs smoothly and maintains a high level of quality. If requested, the Technical Advisor may also provide financial advice for departmental investment decisions.
All positions are expected to work in close partnership with the student Producer to address all production-related matters.
Production Timeline
Auditions will be held Thursday, September 11th and Friday, September 12th from 7-11pm, callbacks will be held Sunday, September 14th from 12pm-3pm, and rehearsals will begin the week of Monday, September 15th (dates/times are tentative and subject to change). Weekly rehearsals will be held Monday-Thursday 8pm-11pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. Our performance dates are still being determined due to planning our theatre’s fall availability but will take place in early November, most likely the weekend of November 8th.
