Salary range:
$32,686 (minimum) – $46,578.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Duties Duties include, but not limited to: Assists with the management and oversight of the scenic operations in the Theatre Arts Production Studios (TAPS), the Edwards Black Box Theater, and Wheelwright Auditorium.
Constructs scenic elements based on drafting plates provided by the Technical Director and assists with the installation of all scenery in all performance venues for each production in the CCU Theatre Season.
Assists in sourcing materials and meeting budgets for scenery, paints, and properties for all productions in the CCU Theatre Season.
Supports, trains, and guides the student workforce in the Theatre Arts Production Studios (TAPS) and multiple performance venues who are working in scenic construction, rigging, and/or automation, as needed and under the supervision of the Technical Director.
Supports the learning of students enrolled in technical theatre courses (including Stagecraft) and supervises open lab hours and work calls with technical theatre students and student shop workers.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma and experience or additional education in the production of theatrical programs. A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a 26′ truck is required.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre, technical direction, scenic design, or a similar field. Experience in academia is a plus. Previous experience as an assistant technical director, carpenter, and welder and being well-versed in reading building plans created with AutoCAD/Vectorworks is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
A working knowledge of and experience with other areas of theatrical design and production (lighting, sound, projections, etc.) is necessary in order to be an effective collaborator. An understanding of academic theatre and a strong ability to collaborate is essential. Coastal Carolina University is an EO/AA employer.
