GENERAL
STATEMENT OF JOB
Under limited supervision, performs technical tasks to support the use of the theatre equipment. Conducts site visits to train users in proper operation of equipment, perform equipment operation, and repair and maintain equipment. Monitors equipment ensuring compliance with safety and security rules. Reports to the Manager of Theatre Services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs technical tasks to support the use of theatre equipment. Conducts site visits to train users in proper operation of equipment, provides guidance on the “best practices” when using equipment; maintains list of school based trained personnel. Performs equipment operation; assists with the operation of and operates rigging, lighting and sound consoles for productions; assists with and/or constructs scenery. Troubleshoots technical problems in the theatre systems; repairs and maintains fixed and moveable equipment in the facilities. Monitors equipment operation ensuring compliance with safety and security rules. Maintains records of proper safety and security measures regarding the use and storage of equipment. Delivers supplies and materials to sites as needed. Coordinates volunteer and hourly crews for productions/events as needed. Performs routine clerical and administrative tasks; answers incoming calls; copies and files documents; researches designs; researches equipment purchases.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related degree with one to two years of previous experience as a stage technician and/or assisting a technical director; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Requirements:
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

Knowledge of Job:
Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Richland County School District One as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Theatre Support Technician. Has the ability to perform technical tasks to support the use of theatre equipment. Is able to conduct routine and thorough site visits to train users in proper operation of equipment, perform equipment operation, and repair and maintain equipment. Understands the proper operation of equipment and is able to troubleshoot equipment and make necessary repairs. Understands the safety factors involved in theatre equipment operation and is able to actively monitor equipment operation ensuring compliance with safety and security rules. Has the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Has the ability to offer training and assistance to co-workers and employees of other departments as required. Is able to read and interpret complex materials pertaining to the responsibilities of the job. Is able to assemble and analyze information and make written reports and records in a concise, clear and effective manner. Has comprehensive knowledge of the terminology and various professional languages used within the department. Has knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling; has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations. Has knowledge of and is able to use modern office practices and equipment, including computers. Knows how to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.
