Assistant News Director
WAAY-31 the Allen Media ABC Affiliate in Huntsville Alabama is looking for our next Assistant News Director.
Summary:
Our ideal candidate is a collaborative, experienced leader who`s great at juggling multiple projects and growing journalists. Through careful coaching, the Assistant News Director elevates our station`s storytelling, writing and execution on all platforms.
The Assistant News Director will lead day-to-day decision making on broadcast coverage and work closely with the digital team to ensure our content best serves the audience on all platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
The Assistant News Director works closely with producers, reporters, anchors, digital desk producers and photographers onpelling, emotionally connecting, impact-driven original storytelling. The AND will oversee production of newscasts and special programming and help lead the news team during breaking news and severe weather events. Solid journalistic and content judgment that emphasizes accurate, fair and engaging content. Must have proven positive people management skills, be a strongmunicator, and have strong conflict management skills.
