QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors Degree from an accredited educational institution.

REQUIRED:
Certified by the state of Florida as an Educational Media Specialist. Valid State Drivers License.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The tasks/competencies listed below represent most of the time spent working in this position. Supervisor may assign additional tasks within the scope of this classification as necessary. 1. Administer and organize a media center that meets the needs of the students and teachers. 2. Plan media program activities that are integrated with other programs and needs of the school. 3. Provide in-service which stimulates effective utilization of the media center and media equipment. 4. Provide instructional or consultative services to teachers as needed for teaching media/reference skills or selection of media support materials for an integrated curriculum. 5. Provide a well-chosen collection of media for different levels of maturity, ability, and interest. 6. Oversee the organization of books and media equipment for easy accessibility by students and teachers. 7. Recommend budget needs and be responsible for the selection of new materials for the media center, based on current trends, research, and interdisciplinary curriculum needs. 8.
