Our Frank Deluca YMCA Family Center is seeking a Sports Directorto be the face of the sports program! Job Description Under thedirection of the Sports Operations Director, the Sports Directorprovides leadership and management of sports programming within theFamily Center. The Sports Director manages member participation andretention through the development and execution of sports programsto achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding customer serviceto all members. We are the Y.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related fieldrequired; sports management, recreation management, physicaleducation or related field of study preferred. Bachelor’s degreepreferred. Minimum 1-3 years of previous supervisory and leadershipexperience in sports and/or customer service-related filedpreferred. Within 60 days of hire, CPR/AED & First Aidcertification Essential Functions Implement youth and adult sportsprograms that promote retention of existing members and engagementof new members. Direct staff to support sports initiatives toachieve retention goals. Analyze data, systems and processes torecognize growth and retention opportunities within the Sportsdepartment. Ensure proper implementation of sports schedules andprocedures to provide maximum opportunities for member/staffconnections. Collaborate and work effectively with all departmentsto achieve desired results. Identify and employ best practices insystems and technology to support effective management of theSports department. Utilize available technology, reporting toolsand data that enhance sports participation and member retention.
Establish systems for regularly scheduled gym and equipmentinspections to ensure proper and efficient working order at alltimes. Coordinate and schedule equipment maintenance and repairs.
Purchase equipment, parts and supplies approved by the purchaserequisition process. Monitor daily operations to adhere to allstate, local and YMCA of Central Florida health and safetystandards and policies. Ensure all staff are current with requiredcertifications. Create and implement sports programs with an effortto allow participants to continue along a succession plan fromyouth sports to adult sports participation. Increase program andgym participation through product knowledge and interactions withexisting and potential members. Collaborate with department leadsto maximize enrollments in program registration and gym usage. Planand execute sports events at the Family Center. Promote the FamilyCenter and the YMCA of Central Florida’s special events among themembers and community. Establish and lead a volunteer Sportscommittee that assists in development and execution of membershipretention efforts. Recruit, select, develop and retain appropriateskill depth level for the department. Supervise department staff.
Support training and career succession plan for staff team. Ensureall staff are current with required certifications Provideleadership through established performance goals and standards,regular assessment of staff performance including annualperformance evaluations, and staff meetings. Collaborate with theExecutive Director to plan and manage the Sports budget. Controlpayroll and department purchasing costs within the budget andfinancial guidelines. Identify and recruit active volunteers forthe Family Center Annual Scholarship Campaign. Provide leadershipand understanding of the mission of the YMCA of Central Florida tostaff and members. Promote and represent the mission and corevalues of the YMCA of Central Florida in the Family Center and itsprograms. Report all accidents/incidents and follow risk proceduresas outlined in YMCA of Central Florida policy. Report allsuspicions of child abuse to proper contacts as outlined in YMCA ofCentral Florida policy. All other duties assigned byManagement.
