Job Summary:

NSA is seeking a dynamic and experienced manager to lead our Production Department in our Stone Mountain, Georgia Headquarters. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of our technical reports, which are essential to our compliance-driven and research-focused projects, and other associated deliverables. The Director of Production oversees the preparation, editing, and finalization of all technical reports and other deliverables produced by New South’s technical departments. This position ensures that all reports meet regulatory standards, client expectations, and internal quality benchmarks. The Director directly supervises the production staff and collaborates with the project managers and technical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Oversight Lead and manage the production team, including editors, graphic designers, production specialists, and support staff. Establish a collaborative work environment within the Production Department Establish workflows, timelines, and priorities for report preparation and submission in conjunction with an Associate Director. Ensure alignment of report production with project schedules and deadlines. Quality Assurance & Compliance Oversee the editing, formatting, and quality control of all reports, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., NEPA, NHPA Section 106, CEQA). Implement and enforce NSA document standards and style guides. Collaboration & Communication Serve as the primary liaison between the Production Department and other internal departments, including Project Management , Archaeology, History, Geophysics, GIS, and Laboratory. Coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies as needed regarding report format and deliverables. Training & Development Develop and update SOPs (standard operating procedures) related to report production. Provide training and mentoring for internal staff on report writing, style guide updates, and software used by writers, including Zotero. Project Management Track report status and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Contribute to proposal development and budgeting for report production tasks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field (M.A. preferred). Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in technical editing, or document production, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Some familiarity with cultural resource management practices would be an advantage Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign and Zotero; familiarity with report production software and databases. Strong leadership experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
