Artistic Director Arlington Children’s Theatre Description:

Overview Part-time, 20-25 hours /week $40,000 per year

Note:

The role may expand to include production management responsibilities if aligned with the candidate’s interests and the hiringmittee’s assessment Work-from-home with online and in-person meetings. Some local travel to rehearsal and production venues required Attendance at some rehearsals (~1-2/week minimum) and work calls as needed, all technical and dress rehearsals, all performances, load-in and strike days Direct a minimum of one show per season Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the artistic vision and programming throughout the year. Select an age-appropriate slate of shows and classes, balancing artistic, educational, and financial priorities in collaboration with the board. Secure performance rights for selected shows and arrange appropriate performance venues. Propose, coordinate, and manage artistic staffing for all productions and programs. Serve as the Camp Coordinator by being on-call for camp instructors/counselors during camp sessions and conducting orientation for the teachers and students on the first day of camps. Occasionally direct or teach productions and workshops as determined in collaboration with the Board. Ensure coverage for artistic roles in case of vacancies, either through hiring substitutes or personally stepping in. Manage performance and provide oversight of contracted artistic professionals and salaried artistic employees, including other Arlington Children’s Theatre staff. Support fundraising initiatives by liaising with parents, development team members, external donors, and sponsors. Collaborate with the Board, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Bookkeeper to budget and monitor annual financial targets. Mentor young performers and foster an inclusive, nurturing environment. Engage withmunity and stakeholders to promote the theater’s mission. Represent the theater publicly, promoting its artistic vision to themunity, and cultivate and maintain relationships with artistic and technical theater professionals and performance venues in the Boston area. Liaise between directors, technical teams, volunteers, and administrative staff and contribute to production calendars, rehearsal schedules, and resource allocation. Overseemunications to cast, crew, and parents/guardians.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in theater direction or artistic management. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstratedmitment to youth development and arts education. Excellentmunication,anizational, and financial management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including children, staff, and volunteers.
