Job Description

Snowsports School Director CM Resort, LLC North Conway, NH SUMMARY The Director of the Snowsports School is responsible for leading the overall operations of the ski and snowboard school, with a focus on exceptional guest service, instructor development, and adherence to safety standards. This leadership role requires strong communication skills, team management experience, and a passion for snowsports and education. The Director works collaboratively with resort leadership to foster a positive and engaging environment for both guests and staff, while driving innovation in lesson programs. This position plays a key role in positioning Cranmore Mountain as the premier destination for learning to ski and snowboard in the Mount Washington Valley and the greater New England region. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests.

SCHEDULING

The Snowsports School Director is a full-time, seasonal position (8-12 months) depending on flexibility, with a minimum of 40 hours per week during non-peak season, 45 hours during peak winter season generally December through March. Hours vary based on season and business volumes. The typical schedule is 5 days a week, 8-10 hours a day, between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM. Weekends, holidays, and vacation weeks are included.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This includes but is not limited to staffing, budgeting, sales and marketing responsibilities as outlined below. Achieve departmental revenue, expense, market share, and guest service goals through effective planning and execution of policies and procedures. Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets to ensure profitability. Implement and maintain effective systems for record retention in compliance with risk management, audit and legal standards. Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality programs and services aligned with the Cranmore Mountain Resort brand. Drive incremental revenue by developing innovative products and creating memorable guest experiences through strategic merchandising. Foster a sales-driven culture that prioritizes and rewards exceptional guest service. Inspire, coach, and motivate staff while building strong relationships with peers; demonstrate ownership, enthusiasm, and a disciplined work ethic. Promote collaboration between supervisors and trainers to support staff development, uphold safety standards, and meet guest expectations through consistent, high-quality programming. Must serve as an exemplary and invigorating representative of the company within the community and champion company policies and procedures. Collaborate with executive management on pricing strategies and work closely with the Marketing & Sales Director to promote programs, adapting delivery methods to evolving guest needs. Oversee the inventory, maintenance, and distribution of all equipment and uniforms, ensuring alignment with resort standards. Work closely with all managers to maintain and improve the resort’s quality of experience for its guests. Meet service level objectives and department goals established by senior management. Actively promote safe skiing/snowboarding by educating the staff and guests on the “Responsibility Code” and general on-mountain etiquette.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage 8 to 10 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 120 to 160 employees in the Snowsports School. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
