Director of Operations Position Overview:

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Production department, ensuring the efficient and compliant production of finished cannabis products. This role involves managing the Production team, optimizing workflows, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Production Manager plays a critical role in resource planning, process improvement, and team development to achieve production goals effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:

Directly supervise the Production Leads and staff, ensuring day-to-day operations, performance, and conduct align with departmental and company expectations. Build and retain a high-performing team through coaching, mentorship, and clear performance expectations. Collaborate with HR and the Director of Operations on workforce planning, including staffing needs, hiring, orientation, and ongoing training. Ensure team adherence to SOPs, compliance requirements, and safety protocols. Conduct regular performance evaluations and deliver constructive feedback. Develop and track performance metrics and report progress to the Director of Operations. Communicate daily production goals with clearly defined KPIs. Foster a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Support team leads in navigating stress, operational pressure, and day-to-day challenges.

Production Oversight:

Plan and oversee daily Production operations to meet production targets with measurable efficiency goals. Ensure all products are accurately packaged, labeled, and prepared for distribution. Monitor metrics for production speed, error rates, and batch completion timelines. Organize and maintain team schedules to align with production goals and resource availability. Operate and oversee a variety of cannabis packaging equipment (e.g., pre-roll machines, labeling systems and jar filling). Collaborate with Facilities to ensure equipment is properly maintained and troubleshoot mechanical issues as they arise.

Compliance and Quality Control:

Ensure all packaging activities comply with state regulations and company SOPs. Conduct quality control checks for accuracy, weight compliance, and packaging integrity. Track compliance performance with defined corrective action metrics.

Inventory and Resource Management:

Forecast and communicate material needs to avoid shortages Collaborate with procurement to maintain adequate stock levels. Maintain accurate records in METRC and supplementary tracking systems.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify areas for operational efficiency and recommend process improvements. Implement cross-training to reduce errors and boost flexibility. Monitor KPIs to guide data-driven improvements. Recommend upgrades and environmental changes to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and safety.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with the Director of Operations and other department heads to align packaging schedules with production timelines. Serve as the primary point of contact for production-related issues. Provide transparent updates, reports, and feedback loops. Required Skills & Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience in a packaging or manufacturing leadership role, preferably in the cannabis industry. Strong knowledge of cannabis packaging regulations and compliance standards. Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams with measurable outcomes. Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, charts, formulas). Proficiency with seed-to-sale software (e.g., METRC). Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience with inventory management and production planning. Demonstrated leadership experience in fast-paced and high-pressure situations. Proven ability to manage and resolve team stressors, fostering a supportive work environment. At least 21 years of age, with the ability to pass a comprehensive background check. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred Qualifications Experience with production planning and inventory tools. Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles. Familiarity with Google Workspace.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Lift and carry up to 60 lbs.

Work Environment:

Warehouse/production environment with exposure to loud equipment and varying temperatures.

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
