About The Position:
This full-time, 10-month position is a unique opportunity that encompasses production management, design, and teaching obligations within the Theatre Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, effectively coordinating the technical needs of productions with appropriate stakeholders; facilitating weekly production meetings; completing designs for lighting, audio/sound, video, projections, and/or scenery in at least one production per school year; providing design mentorship on department productions; and safety and risk management tasks in conjunction with other staff. Teaching technical theatre courses for major and certificate as assigned, oversight of THE390 or equivalent for technical students and designers, and participation in recruitment events is also expected. We are part of the School of Arts & Sciences which is actively engaged in the scholarship of discovery, integration, application and teaching and provides vital service to the campus, community and discipline. With more than 50 different degree programs, most of the courses that make up the university’s general education program fall under arts and science. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre or Theatre
Significant experience in technical theatre with a focus on Production Management, Lighting, and Audio/Sound technology
Experience in training and managing theatrical technical crews
Teaching experience at the college level in technical theatre
Currently engaged in professional technical theatre work and is current with industry standards of practice and equipment.
Willingness and ability to perform some evening and weekend work
A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
Preferred Qualifications:
BFA, MA, MFA, or terminal degree in Theatre or a related field (equivalent experience acceptable)
Current active member with IATSE, USITT, SETC, and/or other National Theatre Organizations. Experience with stage management, projections, video, scenery, and/or other theatrical/entertainment production areas
Experience with mentorship of student designers and technicians
Certification with ETC, or equivalent in programming LED, intelligent, and/or moving lights
Ability to work with programming such as Qlab, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or similar
