Job Description
PIX11 is looking for an experienced traffic producer that thrives in a fast paced environment to lead our traffic and transit coverage for the PIX11 Morning news. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of local roads and public transit systems. Experience in making graphics for broadcast and digital use would be a plus as well. Responsibilities + Monitor all traffic cameras, maps, social media, and other resources for traffic information. + Create maps and graphics to help the on air talent tell the traffic and transit story. + Provide accurate, useful, and timely traffic information to commuters by utilizing external sources. Sources may include but are not limited to cameras, police scanners, phone calls, agency websites, emails, social media, and more. + Maintain crucial deadlines to provide constantly up-to-date traffic information. + Write and edit multiple traffic and transit on air hits every 10-minutes throughout a 6-hour morning broadcast + Have constant communication with PIX11’s helicopter – AIR11 – to augment traffic hits.
Qualifications:
+ Ability to understand and interpret map data, including flows and directions of travel. + Excellent writing and editing skills + Strong computer skills and familiarity with social networking platforms. + Adept at working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, collaborative environment. + Excellent communication skills + Strong attention to detail and ability to plan and organize, set priorities, and multitask. + Ability to handle stress, work calmly and effectively under pressure, and react quickly to changes. + Knowledge of geography and roadways within the local coverage area, including general traffic patterns and mass transit. + Previous experience as a television producer and/or public safety dispatch is helpful. + College degree in communications, television, media production, or broadcast journalism are a plus. + Efficiency with independent work under minimal guidance + Willing to work overnight hours Hourly rate: $ 30 per hour.
