Non-Exempt Job Description:
This role will manage the maintenance and repair of City facilities and supervise the activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing facilities and grounds.
Examples of Duties:
Makes daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of the facility and conducts routine maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, minor carpentry, painting, etc. Refers major maintenance to the appropriate City division or vendor. Reports facility issues that can’t be repaired immediately to Operations Manager. Oversees workers engaged in custodial and minor maintenance of the facilities and surrounding grounds. Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Ensures all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all City employees. Ensures all new and existing employees receive / complete all required training. Ensures through frequent inspections that the work environment within the department is safe and that employees are working in a safe manner. Provides ongoing attention to all safety issues, ensuring theatre emergency systems and other stage equipment are operational through regular inspections. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. Assists the Operations Manager with managing the theatre’s operating expenses for maintenance, repairs, and supplies. Performs activities of supervised employees when needed to help maintain the facility. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Upholds the City of Charleston and the Dock Street Theatre’s high standards while performing all tasks and responsibilities assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate’s degree and three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid South Carolina Driver’s License Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Other Necessary Requirements:
May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
