WHAT YOU WILL DO

As an Office Specialist 1 you will facilitate the timely and accurate scanning and mailing of Unemployment Insurance (UI) correspondence, provide clerical support to the UI Division, and support UI departments with special projects.

In this role you will:

Receive and assist with the daily cycle of incoming documents to ensure same-day completion of work to maintain unit and agency timeliness. Prepare and batch documents for scanning that have been received for units within UI and Paid Leave. Operate and maintain imaging scanner. Assist with special projects within UI departments to expedite timely completion that could affect a claimant’s claim. Assist other team members to ensure timely completion of duties, to include answering phone calls and assisting customers. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Minimum Qualifications One year of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR An equivalent combination of experience and college coursework or training in a general office occupation. Desired Attributes Ability to do work that requires accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and in a team: follow directions, display a willingness to help others, to stay calm in tense situations, and communicate openly and directly with other team members. Experience prioritizing and adjusting tasks to meet changing requirements and workload demands. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Skill in operating typical office equipment such as computer, photocopier, scanner, and fax. Demonstrated responsibility for your own actions and a commitment to performing assigned tasks. Ability to comply with requirements regarding sensitive and confidential data. Ability to be comfortable with changing or uncertain environments. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain professional, calm, and adapt communication style to meet the needs of diverse customers that may be frustrated, upset or critical.
