Reporting to the Senior Contracts & Licensing Manager, this role will be responsible for a variety of tasks which include but are not limited to the following: Registering copyrights for Candlewick, Walker and Walker Books Australia books with the US Copyright Office Drafting flat fee contracts Responding to and granting free of charge permissions licenses, focusing on requests from the general public and internal requests from Marketing and Sales at Candlewick Assisting Contracts & Rights Coordinator in preparing materials for subrights presentations (e.g., compiling and printing TI sheets, creating grids, preparing proofs and other materials, etc.) Creating the complimentary copy report monthly for authors/illustrators/agents and weekly reprint complimentary copy report Utilizing and updating the Biblio database Researching contractual rights on an as-needed basis Assisting Contracts & Rights Coordinator in managing receipt and sending of all sales materials to licensees Maintaining title lists with the group’s piracy service provider and communicate any issues found Reviewing and updating the Third Party Rights screen in Biblio to hold information about borrowed material contained in Candlewick-originated titles Drafting agreements for proprietary deals Completing tasks, special projects/reports for the department as needed

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a friendly, professional, and poised demeanor and will possess the ability to: perform efficiently under pressure; work both independently and as part of a team to complete assignments; and work in a fast-paced environment comfortably. Strong attention to detail, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize, excellent concentration, an aptitude and appreciation for systems and processes, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are necessary. Prior experience with databases is strongly preferred. Candidate must be a quick learner and be resourceful, extremely organized, proactive, and a strong team player. An interest in children’s trade publishing and contracts and rights specifically is strongly preferred. This is a full-time position based in Somerville, MA with the option for hybrid work. The salary for this position is 42k.
