WWSB-TV, a Gray Media ABC affiliate in Sarasota, is recruiting its next Weekend Anchor / MMJ. As a newsroom leader, you’ll help innovate workflows in our digital-first newsroom by producing special content for the web and engaging viewers on our live streams, long before the newscast begins.
WWSB-TV, Gray Medias ABC Affiliate in Sarasota, is searching for a team leader to coordinate, produce, and deliver live digital and on-air news coverage during weekend newscasts, and be assigned lead stories as a best practices MMJ/Reporter during the week.
Were focused on delivering an upgraded customer experience and evolving the MySuncoast.com brand well beyond 2030. Working alongside producers, youll help guide the editorial decisions and presentations on all platformsat a moment’s notice from our Newsroom Live Desk and during traditional news times from our Broadcast Studio.
Success is not about prompter reading, nor is it about stacking a rundown with feed packages or tracking the weeks until you get your weekends free. Participate in editorial meetings and help guide decision-makingTrack weekday story production and evaluate editorial upgrades for the weekendWrite copy for web, publish stories online, produce Live Reports from CTV/OTT DeskEvaluate breaking news coverage opportunitiesAnchor weekend newscastsAssist with video editing, producing, and writing for weekend newscastsExhibit and embody strong journalism ethics at all timesUnderstand and implement copyright clearance protocolsShoot, write, and edit traditional broadcast news stories using MMJ gear in the fieldCreate sustained urgency plans to grow coverage from newscast to newscastFill in weekday anchoring and special projects as assignedRepresent the station at community eventsBe proficient in all MMJ Workflows, including ENG Camera, LiveU, and Edius operationsCreate and publish meaningful, unique digital videos using platforms like CanvaClip videos and write stories for the website and upgrade that content for digital enhancements, including extended CTV and Live Desk productionDrive CTV adoption and engagement with news and marketing teams to create and promote exclusive CTV content on platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.Organize and Leverage User-Generated Content for broadcast and digital platforms.
Lead efforts to increase social referrals by developing engaging, shareable content that drives users to WWSB platforms.
Seek counsel regularly from and assist other station leaders and journalists throughout Gray Media.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred.
Two years of multi-platform reporting, shooting, and editing experience preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driver’s record check.
