Secondarily, the reporter will be called upon to cover non-education-related stories as time permits. Applicants should have strong newsgathering and writing skills. The reporter will be responsible for pitching and writing stories, as well as follow-ups and long-form, in-depth pieces. Key Responsibilities Pitch, report, and write on education and non-education-related matters. Cultivate sources and stay informed on key developments related to education. Perform other related duties and projects as assigned. Required Qualifications 2 years of experience in journalism. Strong reporting and writing skills. Residence in Jersey City is strongly preferred. Knowledge of education policy is a plus. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively, mixing breaking news stories with longer enterprise reporting. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Familiarity with AP style is preferred. Experience with WordPress and/or Mailchimp is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with editors, co-reporters, and other colleagues.
