Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions Construct, prototypes, modify exhibits, signs, displays, fixtures, simulators, mechanical equipment, and related equipment. Accurately read blueprints, plans and sketches. Systematically inspect & lead repair work on exhibits, signs, displays, fixtures, simulators, mechanical equipment, and related equipment to ensure correct operation. Ensure safe installation, removal, and transport of exhibits, signs, displays, fixtures, simulators, mechanical equipment, and related equipment. Efficiently and accurately use exhibit shop equipment, power tools, and hand tools Assist Archives with the construction of needed archival displays, exhibits and storage Supervisory Responsibilities Lead tasks with team and assign where necessary ensuring completion Aid in developing skills and knowledge within the team Supervise in the proper use of tools and materials as well as maintaining work areas Work with department manager on development and design of displays and exhibits

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education Education:
High School or GED Required Experience Work Experience:

3 years experience in exhibit fabrication, trade work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to plan and fabricate varied exhibits; to select and the ability to work proficiently with wood, laminate plastics, metals, aluminum extrusion and numerous finishes. Must be able to use the tools and equipment of the profession efficiently and safely. Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license

Preferred Education & Experience:

Completion of trade school in woodworking, metalworking, cabinet making, etc. Experience operation forklift, scissor lift, telehandler, boom lift. Welding (TIG MIG ARC) 3D Printing (FDM & Resin) CNC Router CNC Plasma CNC Engraver/Laser 3D Modeling & CAM using Fusion 360 Vacuum forming Tooling development Physical Requirements This position has the following special requirements: Walking, climbing ladders and stairs in conducting inspections of exhibits and to access various departments and buildings. Carrying, lifting items and supplies up to 100 lbs. waist high. Bending, kneeling and reaching to retrieve supplies and inspect and repair equipment and exhibits Sight, reading, wrist movements, feeling to operate computer terminal, etc. Talking, communicating with coworkers, assist guests, and service providers Driving skills to operate forklifts, scissor lifts Eligibility Qualifications Must be authorized to work in the United States.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Factors This position involves working in both a climate-controlled office environment and outside where exposed to various weather conditions and changing temperatures. This position deals extensively with the public and employees throughout the organization.
