Technical Writer *No C2C* Position Available In Montgomery, Alabama

Description In this role, you will play a crucial part in analyzing obtained data and ensuring our user-facing documentation is clear, accurate, and current in your function as a Technical Writer.

• Collaborating actively with the development team throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Participating in key meetings such as Sprint Zero, collaborative testing sessions, and daily stand-ups.
• Liaise with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) to incorporate updates and changes into the User’s and Operator’s Manuals.
• Edit, format, and prepare both User’s and Operator’s Manuals for publication, ensuring high standards of clarity, accuracy, and accessibility.
• Conduct thorough post-publication reviews of all manuals, incorporating feedback and implementing necessary revisions.
• Manage version control and track changes, effectively communicating revisions and updates to stakeholders.
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required.
• Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a software development environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise language.
• Proficiency in using editing and publishing tools.
• Experience working with DFAS guidelines and documentation standards is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong analysis, collaboration and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work. Desired Skills
• Experience with Defense Finance Accounting System (DFAS) and/or Air Force legacy financial information systems.
• Knowledge and experience using operating systems, programming languages, hardware platforms and software development tools related to the Standard Materiel Accounting System (SMAS), the General Accounting and Finance System Reengineered (GAFS-R) and the Integrated Accounts Payable System (IAPS).

CFS sustainment effort encompasses 3 systems: Standard Material Accounting System (SMAS): SMAS is an enhanced accounting system supporting the Retail Supply Management Business Area for the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) customers. SMAS maintains the accounting records and produces trial balance reports for management of the working capital fund, supply management activity group. SMAS supports DFAS, USAF, ANG, and AFR. The SMAS team is also responsible for the sustainment of the: Standard Base Supply System-Accounting & Finance (SBSS-A&F).

SBSS-A&F

is a suite of accounting programs within the Integrated Logistics System Supply (formerly Standard Base Supply System) that accumulates and reports financial information needed by Stock Fund Managers.

SBSS-A&F

maintains the accounting records and produces reports for management of the working capital fund, supply management activity group.

SBSS-A&F

supports DFAS, USAF, ANG, and AFR. General Accounting and Finance System Reengineered (GAFS-R): GAFS-R is a suite of systems that receive summary and detail data from feeder systems to reflect an Air Force organizations’ up-to-date financial status. GAFS-R supports DFAS, USAF, ANG, AFR, NGA, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The GAFS-R systems to be sustained by the contractor include the following: General Accounting and Finance System – Base Level (GAFS-BL) Windows General Accounting Microcomputer Processing System (WINGAMPS) Windows Microcomputer Online/Offline Processing System (WINMOOPS) Civilian Pay Accounting Interface System (CPAIS) General Accounting and Finance System – Defense Travel System (GAFS-DTS) Automated Data Reports Submission System (ADRSS) ADRSS is a standard utility for automating data file transfers between Unisys AISs, DISA DECC platforms, and outside agencies Integrated Accounts Payable System (IAPS): IAPS automates payment and accounting functions related to commercial vendors. It provides automatic payment voucher creation, computing payment due dates, amounts, discounts and interest payments. IAPS supports DFAS, USAF, ANG, AFR, NGA, Army, Navy and Marine Corps.
