Domestically or internationally, SSU provides a large business experience as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). We are currently recruiting a Proposal Writer to join SSU’s Business Development Team. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and detail-oriented Proposal Writer with a proven track record of crafting compelling and winning proposals. They should possess exceptional writing and editing abilities, with the capability to synthesize complex information into clear and persuasive narratives. The candidate should be adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather essential information and insights, ensuring the development of high-quality and compliant proposals. Additionally, we seek an individual who is deadline-driven, adaptable to fast-paced environments, and committed to maintaining a thorough understanding of SSU’s offerings and industry standards to effectively contribute to the success of our Business Development Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and gather relevant information to create well-informed and compelling proposals. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and depth in proposal content. Write and edit clear, concise, and persuasive proposal narratives that align with SSU’s messaging and client requirements. Tailor proposals to address specific client needs and showcase SSU’s unique value proposition. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, technical experts, and management, to gather insights and inputs for proposal development. Facilitate effective communication to ensure all stakeholders contribute to proposal success. Adhere to government contracting regulations, proposal guidelines, and SSU’s internal quality standards. Support thorough reviews to ensure proposals meet compliance requirements and adhere to established formats. Coordinate and manage the end-to-end proposal development process, including timelines, milestones, and deadlines. Track and organize proposal content using proposal management tools or software. Provide feedback on proposal processes and suggest improvements for increased efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with the Business Development Team to implement best practices in proposal development. Proactively address potential challenges or delays in the proposal development process. Organize and maintain a comprehensive archive of proposals, templates, and related documents for reference and knowledge-sharing purposes.
Required Professional Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, or a related field. Proven experience as a Proposal Writer, preferably in a business development or government contracting environment. Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail. Strong research capabilities to gather and synthesize information effectively. Ability to collaborate seamlessly with subject matter experts and diverse teams to extract essential insights for proposals. Familiarity with government contracting processes, regulations, and compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and produce high-quality work. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with proposal management tools or software. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a relevant field. Certification in Proposal Management or Professional Writing. Knowledge of SSU’s industry, services, and competitors. Experience with graphics and visuals to enhance proposal content. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. Understanding of industry best practices and trends in proposal development. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and clients. Previous experience working with federal government agencies or prime contractors.
