Description:
DUTIES:
Produce educational content (tutorials, examples, and reference documentation) in a number of programming languages. Lead and manage a team of fellow technical writers. Mentor junior writers to improve both technical and writing skills. Review educational content for technical accuracy, clarity, and grammatical errors. Act as a liaison from the Education team to Engineering, Product, and Marketing teams to coordinate and prioritize requests and keep them informed on project status. Plan the roadmap of educational content that aligns with Engineering at a quarterly basis. Interview, hire, and train new team members. Review and analyze peer and competitor documentation to measure our documentation against. Identify strategic opportunities and gaps in the existing documentation, then plan and execute projects to address them. Must appear in office 3 days per week: WFH permissible 2 days per week.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Instructional Technology, English or related field and 3 years of experience in technology related role or job offered.
Experience and/or education must include: 1. Managing a team of technical writers responsible for manuals and training materials, regularly reviewing their work and sharing feedback on their performance and identifying and providing growth opportunities to team members;2. Producing well-written product descriptions and documentation for developer interfaces in higher level programming languages like Javascript;3. Developing Javascript applications to showcase code examples in developer educational materials;4. Managing workload and incoming requests in JIRA, establishing and monitoring metrics for projects, and reporting status updates on a weekly basis;5. Ability to interview stakeholders and review user research to assess the business need and priority of projects, and then prioritize and schedule work;6. Drafting content in a markup language like Markdown and then storing it in a version control system like GitHub; and7. Creating and managing interactive content in an online lab environment like Instruqt or Strigo, and analyzing metrics to determine efficacy of content.
