Overview:

UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.

Responsibilities:

The primary role of the UPF Startup Technical Writer will be to support the Startup team with Test Packages. To ensure technical editing, graphics, document control, and record management. Provide an understanding of the technical process of the testing documentation and the intent of the testing objective. Work with Testing Engineers to ensure the intent of the package isn’t compromised with editorial changes. Provide accurate input to the Startups Lead Technical Writer to prevent delays in testing activities.

Major Responsibilities:

(populated by Smartstaff based on Job Matrices, add any project specific information Take detailed direction from the Startup Lead Technical Writer for assigned work activities. Understanding the Technical process of the testing documents. Ensuring quality of functional test instructions. Coordinating with the Startup Test Engineers to ensure intent of testing procedures has not been compromised. Developing and maintaining documentation with project document controls.

Performing other duties as directed in support of project activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree from an accredited university or related field and 3 or more years; in lieu of a formal degree, 7 years related experience in startup nuclear power facility experience, DOE construction project, or similar.

Qualifications:

Must be a US citizen. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, which includes verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain site security badge for access to work site.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of principles and practices related to startup testing and commissioning. Good knowledge of related construction and engineering practices and the economics involved. Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria. Excellent computer skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills with experience preparing and presenting test procedures
