Job Summary/Basic Function The Department of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#156170) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2025. The successful candidate is expected to teach various aspects of the video and film industry such as preproduction, production, post-production, aesthetics, history, theory and technology using current production tools, techniques and technology. Required Education A master’s degree in video and film production is required by the appointment date. A bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of full-time or four (4) years of part-time professional experience will be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree. To receive experience credit for full-time, freelance work, applicants must list each project, including the project’s length, on their CVs. Required Related Experience Five (5) years of full-time or part-time professional experience as a film, television or video producer, director, director of photography, editor, screenwriter, or production manager is required. Other Desirables Applicants with experience in narrative film, documentary production, commercial, music video production, live multi camera-production in the broadcast, live event or touring industries, virtual and extended reality production or post-production experience will receive special consideration.
