• Department Summary
• Assist and participate in the provision of print, video, and web-based services in order to communicate the university’s mission, programs, and services to a variety of internal and external audiences.

To perform video production services as part of Valdosta State Universities award-winning University Marketing and Communications (UMC) team.

As a member of the UMC team, the Advertising Video Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and Brand Management. This position is responsible for creating compelling videos for marketing initiatives to assist Valdosta State University in its recruitment and retention goals. The successful candidate is a very collaborative, creative, team player who brings new ideas to the table.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Design and develop

• 50%Operate cameras, video equipment, and computer hardware and software to develop content for print, video, and web-based media.

Consulting

• 15%Coordinate and consult with internal clients to develop strategies, goals, and timelines.

Work with internal clients to develop messaging and other content.

Graphic design

• 15%Perform a variety of graphic design functions in the development of communication materials in assigned media.

Equipment management

• 10%Maintain a variety of software and hardware used in the development and production of multimedia content as assigned.

Research and recommend technology upgrades.

Administrative functions

• 10%Complete a variety of reports and maintain files and records.

Supervisor Expectations

• Experience in video and audio editing
• Experience in photography and graphic design
• Experience creating videos for social media
• Experience with, or willing to be trained on, flying a drone
• Works closely with UMC colleagues and assist on strategy, content creation, and execution for national advertising campaigns including promotional videos, TV spots, and radio spots
• Collaborates with university clients and UMC team to assist in development of campaigns that align with brand objectives and messaging. Ensures that all video content maintains consistency with the university’s voice, style, and aesthetic guidelines
• Assists the Social Media Video Coordinator to create content and videos for flagship social media accounts as needed
• Works with university clients to provide video coverage of campus events and academic activities for use in advertising initiatives
• Plays an important role in commencement preparations and will provide video coverage of Fall and Spring commencement
• May supervise student video production staff
• Other duties as assigned
• Ability to work nights and weekends to cover events.
