Empire State University seeks a seeks a full-time Videographer (State title: Staff Assistant) at our Saratoga Springs, NY location. The videographer will be a visual storyteller, using video and motion graphics to build brand awareness and drive effective marketing campaigns with authentic content that communicates the value of a SUNY Empire education. This position will report to the Creative Director and work closely with the Marketing and Communications teams to plan, coordinate, shoot and edit videos for a variety of media platforms, including the university website, streaming advertising, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and other social media. The position may also require occasional digital photography work and may serve as a liaison and backup to the university photographer.

Responsibilities include:

Shoot and edit videos for marketing content, traveling across the state as needed Produce motion graphics to support campaign and social media initiatives and build into video production Work alongside the Marketing Content Creator/Videographer to develop and implement video content, from the brainstorming phase through production Collaborate with the Marketing creative team to plan, coordinate, shoot and edit videos for a variety of media platforms Work with the Senior Copywriter / Storyteller to interview students, alumni, faculty and staff to develop compelling stories Focus on storytelling component of video, creating narrative pieces that authentically reflect the university’s students, faculty, staff and alumni Assist with managing the university’s YouTube channels Create video content that seamlessly integrates into navigable structure of the SUNY Empire website Work with internal stakeholders to arrange and execute video shoots Ensure all videos meet the latest accessibility guidelines Coordinate, curate and edit submitted content to produce visual narratives Work on tight deadlines to deliver content quickly and accurately Maintain an organized library of all archived, working, and final video production files Maintain the inventory of video equipment and recommend updating or replacing gear as necessary Write and edit video captions that are grammatically correct and adhere to university’s style Attend and film Commencement ceremonies (travel required) Must be comfortable lifting, carrying, and transporting video equipment and gear to and from shoot locations Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a variety of environments (indoor, outdoor, studio, on location) Serve as back-up for staff photographer as needed

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in videography, photography, arts and media, communications, or a related field. A minimum two years’ experience as a professional videographer. Knowledge of social media best practices. Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud editing tools. Portfolio of video work. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.

Special Information:

This position will be located in Saratoga Springs, NY. Statewide travel is required. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position. Online portfolio is required for consideration. SL2 / $52,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Empire State University is an EOE employer.
