Job Description
Writer – Temporary CBIA Service Corp 350 Church Street, Hartford, CT 06103 CBIA is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented temporary writer to support our communications and advocacy efforts. This role is responsible for gathering, writing, and editing timely business-related news content, preparing weekly and monthly newsletters, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of business and policy issues, excellent writing skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role will likely run from early August through mid November 2025 ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
Research, write, and edit relevant, timely business-related articles and content for multiple platforms that support CBIA’s strategic mission. Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly newsletters to members. Collaborate with internal departments (advocacy, membership, marketing) to align content with organizational goals. Coordinate with external contributors and partners to source relevant content. Ensure all content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with CBIA’s voice and messaging. Monitor business and legislative developments relevant to Connecticut’s business community. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be imaginative, creative, and employ high-quality research, communications, and analytical skills to develop original content. Adept at understanding business-related issues and trends and integrating them into content projects and messaging. Ability to proactively identify content opportunities. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field. At least three years of professional writing or journalism experience, preferably in business or policy. Experience with email marketing platforms is a plus. Familiarity with Connecticut’s business and legislative landscape is a plus.
