Freelance work, flexible scheduling Job Details Summary The Quality Specialist will provide Section 508 compliance checks and remediation as well as Editing across the company and multiple projects. Requirements Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Current DHS Trusted Tester certification (Optional) Minimum of three (3) years of experience in reviewing and editing a wide range of courseware, documents, and corporate publications Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting the Section 508 compliance checking and remediation of eLearning and training-related documents (PDFs, Word files, and PPT files), using DHS Trusted Tester protocols Preferred To Have Editing and Section 508 compliance experience for products for the Federal Government (2 years) Responsibilities Review and edit a wide range of courseware, documents, and corporate publications including training materials, proposals, website copy, etc. Provide assistance and advice on information and communication technology (ICT) accessibility policies and help ensure compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act standards for persons with disabilities. Perform complete audits and validation testing on software and documents, based upon Section 508 and/or
W3C WCAG 2.1
accessibility guidelines. Provide testing, remediation, and compliance reports for web-based/multimedia content. Provide testing, remediation, and final assessable electronic documents (Word, pdf, Power Point, Excel). Use Assistive Technologies, such as screen reader software (NVDA, JAWS), and Accessibility test tools. Write detailed findings to document identified issues and recommend potential solutions and best practices for remediation of accessibility violations. Validate editing and/or Section 508 compliance efforts of more junior staff. Provide mentoring and guidance to personnel related to editorial and Section 508 guidelines Interested in hearing more?
