Sports Writer Position Available In Clearfield, Pennsylvania

Sports Writer Community Media Group:

The Progress 236 East Market Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 We are seeking a full-time sports writer at The Progress in Clearfield with a strong work ethic and a love of high school sports. The ideal candidate will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a thorough understanding of grammar rules and AP style. He or she will have the ability to meet tight deadlines and to write concisely yet comprehensively about local and regional sports. We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who can juggle a variety of assignments – from game coverage to preview stories and roundups to sports features. As part of our sports team, you would cover games, write feature stories and design sports pages.

Requirements:

A degree in Journalism or Communication (or equivalent experience) with the proven ability to produce high volume (10-12 stories per week) of compelling, accurate stories on deadline for both print and digital platforms. We are seeking someone with solid photography skills and proficiency with common social media platforms. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign a benefit. This position offers competitive wages and benefits.
