Job Description FLIPANY’s is seeking a Wellness Instructor to work directly with community youth. The Wellness Instructor will teach classes in nutrition, cooking, and recreational/physical activity at FLIPANY’s partner locations, including schools, community centers, and other community spaces. The ideal Wellness Instructor is excited about encouraging and supporting healthy lifestyles for youth and families, while demonstrating strong and positive class management of groups of youth. We are seeking passionate individuals prepared to mentor youth through social emotional learning exercises and wellness activities centered on healthy lifestyle habits including nutrition education, healthy cooking, sports and non-competitive structured play. Details and Compensation:

Up to 29 hours per week Must be available Monday – Thursday afternoons between 1:30pm and 6:30pm, with potential for some day shifts available and special events on weekends. Compensation is hourly; the shift begins each day at 1:30 pm at the FLIPANY office in Dania Beach. Wellness Instructor will be expected to pick up needed items from the store for classes, drive (FLIPANY vehicle available) to varied course locations, conduct classes, and be back at the FLIPANY office by 6:30.

Minimum Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working with children of various ages in a leadership role is desired.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong motivational and classroom management skills, including redirection and the use of positive reinforcement techniques Ability to effectively manage behavioral challenges among youth populations Experience delivering in-person classes to groups of 15-20 youth participants Willingness to learn (or familiarity with) youth physical activity standards and MyPlate nutritional guidelines Ability to guide youth through basic cooking lessons, including food preparation (e.g., cutting, dicing) and safe skillet use Willingness to lead youth in physical activities Strong organizational and communication skills to work collaboratively with site staff across diverse locations and maintain clear communication with the FLIPANY team and supervisors Ability to follow program guidelines and implement curriculum with consistency and measurable results Physical Requirements Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Exposure to extreme temperatures, extreme sunlight, noise, heights, dirt, dust and potentially hazardous chemicals is common. Work may be performed on uneven surfaces. While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to lift, carry and/or push articles weighing up to 50 lbs. The employee is frequently required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms. Must have use of hands to finger, handle or feel and/or operate objects, tools or controls. Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of telephone and personal contact. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Must have the ability to see, read, talk and hear. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of equipment; such as but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copy machine and fax machine.
