The position, funded under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), includes a variety of customer development functions, including but not limited to outreach, eligibility determination, academic and career readiness assessments, individualized HiSET preparation, and ABE pertaining to career readiness. Employability Development and Follow-Up Services.
Supervision Received:
Receives general supervision from the WIOA Youth Program Director who assigns and oversees work providing guidance and instruction regarding laws, regulations, rules, policies, and procedures; reviews work, assists in employee self-development, and conducts performance reviews.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the providing of HiSET/ABE services to young adults between the ages of 17-24. Outreach to eligible applicants through a variety of resources. Collection of WIOA-mandated eligibility documentation. Conduct intensive needs assessment including academic and skill level, career aptitude and interests, employability skills, and barriers to education and or employment. Development of Individual Service Strategy based on comprehensive assessment. Assists in identifying resolutions to barriers. Provide high-quality ABE instruction related to preparation for the HiSET and college/career readiness. Develop and utilize a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of each learner, including the integration of technology. Customize curriculum/ instructional methods to meet the needs of individual students. Provide ongoing evaluations of student needs, progress, learning advancements, etc. Work collaboratively with Youth Case Managers. Communicates progress on shared ABE customers. Coordinate assistance for customers transitioning to post-secondary education and/or employment. Assist in scheduling exams with PSI Services. Assists in providing documents for learners requesting accommodations. Facilitate online proctored tests. Assists in setting workspace requirements to ensure testing space meets all mandatory standards. Provide 12 months of follow-up services in phase two of the program to ensure education and/or employment retention. Maintain the State database accurately and timely recording client services and progress. Other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Provide guidance and support to young adults who are preparing for their high school equivalency, entering the workforce, re-entering the workforce, or changing occupations. Works effectively with a diverse population. Demonstrates the ability to use language that has the greatest positive impact on young people. Serves as a liaison to educational facilities, community-based organizations, and partners to facilitate WIOA services and the development of additional resources. Meets regularly with the Youth Connections team to identify young adults pursuing employment; provides ongoing communication including updates on the progress of academic goals. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BA/BS or equivalent Prior experience working with “at risk youth.” Ability to work with diverse populations. Experience assessing and documenting student learning. The ability to use language that has the greatest positive impact on young people. Outstanding verbal, written communication, and organizational skills Ability to maintain records accurately and in a timely manner. Strong computer skills Proficiency in database management
