Training Resources of America, headquartered in Worcester, is hiring an Instructor for the YouthBuild program in Worcester.
The person in this role:
- provides Adult Basic Education/GED preparation instruction/testing to students enrolled in the YouthBuild Program to enable them to increase their grade levels and achieve a HiSet Certificate;
- coordinates classroom and worksite curricula with Worksite Trainer/Supervisor;
- conducts orientation sessions with students to familiarize them with the program and the learning lab materials;
- provides academic counseling to ensure successful program participation/completion and achievement of individual goals;
- assists counselor in overseeing student community service projects;
- assists in providing self-esteem/life/job readiness/leadership training;
- assists in supervising students during field trips and Mass. YouthBuild Coalition/YouthBuild USA events;
- assists in developing/maintaining an alumni program.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree, some related human service experience, and sensitivity and commitment to youth required. Massachusetts state teacher’s certification, counseling experience with youth, and previous experience teaching Basic Education/ HiSET preparation, life skills and/or job readiness training strongly desired. Bi-lingual capability (Spanish/English) a plus. This job requires the ability to relate/communicate with a diverse, multi-cultural population with varying needs/issues. It also requires initiative, creativity and strong organizational skills to cultivate and present the various curricula. It requires flexibility and the ability to produce required results in students, as well as the ability to work closely with staff in a team approach to achieve overall program goals.
